International Roaming Complaint — Excess Charges Guide for Jio Airtel Vi
Mobile Network
International roaming complaints fall into two types — being charged for roaming without having activated a pack, or activating a pack but still facing incorrect billing. Both are disputable under TRAI regulations.
Under TRAI rules, operators must obtain clear consent before activating any paid roaming service. Charges applied without consent or beyond pack limits are disputable and the operator must investigate.
To file a complaint about international roaming charges, contact your operator's customer care as soon as you return. For Jio call 198, for Airtel call 198, for Vi call 199. Email the respective appellate authority with your mobile number, travel dates and countries, roaming charges billed, the pack you activated (if any) and evidence of activation.
Under TRAI billing dispute rules, your operator must respond within 4 working days and resolve within 30 days. During investigation, you can withhold the disputed amount while paying the undisputed portion, and the operator cannot disconnect service only over the disputed amount.
If unresolved after 30 days, escalate to the Appellate Authority of your operator, then to TRAI Sanchar Saathi at sancharsaathi.gov.in.
